Custom LED sheets behind a 4 metre stretch ceiling

For the children’s department at UMC, LEDw@re supplied a custom LED solution behind a circular stretch ceiling. The project was realised together with Plameco Ede.

The goal was clear: create a large, calm and evenly illuminated ceiling surface. No visible fixtures. No harsh light points. Just one soft light plane that supports the space, the care environment and the people using it every day.

The circular ceiling has a diameter of 4 metres and is fitted with our flexible LED sheets. Behind the stretch ceiling, the LED system creates a smooth and comfortable light distribution with a warm white colour temperature of 3000K.

Why this solution works

In a children’s department, lighting has to do more than simply illuminate a room. It needs to feel friendly, safe and comfortable. At the same time, it must be reliable, controllable and suitable for a professional healthcare environment.

By placing the LED sheets behind the stretch ceiling, the technology stays hidden while the light becomes part of the architecture. The result is a clean ceiling design with a soft, even glow.

DALI control makes the system flexible and easy to manage. This allows the lighting level to be adjusted to the needs of the space during the day.
