GYO miniature spotlights for display vitrines

For the new interactive exhibition Music Machines & Me at Museum Speelklok in Utrecht, LEDw@re contributed to the lighting of several display vitrines using our GYO miniature spotlights.

This new museum presentation brings together music, mechanics and creativity. Visitors discover how historical music machines work and are invited to experiment and build musical mechanisms themselves.

Within this project, the challenge was clear:
the historical objects had to be illuminated with precision, without disturbing the presentation and while maintaining full control over the light level for each individual object.

Precision lighting for museum display cases

For this exhibition, several vitrines were equipped with GYO miniature spots.

Key features of the system:
Each spotlight individually dimmable
Compact size, ideal for museum vitrines
Precise accent lighting for small and detailed objects
Minimal visual impact inside the display case
Suitable for presentations where control and flexibility are essential

Because every object in a museum display has different materials, shapes and reflection values, individual dimming per spotlight offers a major advantage. It allows the lighting to be fine-tuned per object instead of using one general light level for the entire vitrine.

This creates better visibility, more depth, and a more balanced presentation.

Lighting the mechanics behind the music

The exhibition includes a wide range of historical mechanical music objects with visible details such as:

gears
cylinders
pins
springs
metal and wooden structures

These details are essential to understanding how the instruments work.

By using small, focused spotlights, the mechanical construction becomes more visible and more expressive. The lighting helps visitors not only see the objects, but also better understand the engineering behind them.

Compact museum lighting with maximum control

Museum vitrines require lighting solutions that are:

compact
discreet
adjustable
reliable

The GYO miniature spotlight system offers exactly that.
The small dimensions make it possible to integrate the lighting neatly into the vitrine, while the individual dimming function gives curators and installers full control over the final presentation.

This makes the system highly suitable for:

museums
galleries
collectors
luxury retail displays
jewelry presentation
special exhibition projects
Project contribution by LEDw@re

At LEDw@re, we develop lighting systems for projects where detail, atmosphere and precision matter.

This project at Museum Speelklok shows how miniature lighting can play a major role in presenting sensitive and historical objects in the right way.

With the right light, the story of the object becomes stronger.
